[It's an awkward position that Hikaru doesn't find awkward at all. Even as they just stare at each other and all he can think is that he really likes Taichi's eyes. Their shape and color. He likes how they seem so focused on him and that's nice.

Taichi's smile is nice, too, but when Taichi says he's cute; he gawks and blushes all the more. Struggling to come up with something to say. It isn't like he isn't used to compliments but this seems very different and so he does as he always does, makes a joke.]

W-what? Trying to get on my good side or something? Or wait...[He grins.] Are you trying to slide into me? Taichi! You devil~ What happened to my innocence staying safe?

[arf]

[ Taichi turns bright red at that and finally gets up, sitting on Hikaru's legs instead because he needs to wave his hands back and forth. ]

De-de-definitely impossible! I've never even kissed someone!

[irritated]

[He's disappointed that the moment is over but even he realizes that's his own fault because he ruined it.

And it's stupid to be sad about that, right? Right. So he laughs and sits up which is a challenge since Taichi is on his legs but not impossible. He keeps grinning and pokes him in his cheek.]

Just kidding but your secret is safe with me.

[As if Hikaru has kissed anybody. He hasn't at all.]

[arf]

[ He doesnt pull away from the finger, instead leaning into it so his cheek pushes up while he makes a weird whine sound. ]

Hoo... Don't tease me like that, you're gonna make me think you want me to! Unless... You're teasing me now?

[ He looks at him and bats his eye lashes. He's trying to tease him back. But he doesn't wait for a response and stands up, holding his hand out to help Hikaru up. ]

Come on, I'm hungry.

[irritated]

[It's a surprise when Taichi teases him back but it isn't unwelcomed. Unfortunately, he doesn't even let him respond and if Hikaru were to ever think about it then he may not have known what to say. Maybe he would have actually teased him, maybe he would have kept it going.

But if he did come over here to take Taichi out so he let's himself be pulled up. Although he let's go of his hand as soon as he's up, he goes to hold his other hand so they can keep holding hands. Hikaru had offered this before and he had stuck to it. Holding Taichi's hand wasn't a big deal and he needed help with chroma. That's what friends were for, right?]

I was going to take you to Lunatia Square? They had all that food they were selling on the streets and I thought you'd like that.

[arf]

[ Taichi grins at that explanation. That's honestly the best kind of food?? Definitely not the healthiest but Taichi loves eating it. His absolute favorite is a street food traditionally, after all. In fact, he squeezes Hikaru's hand in excitement, pulling it up in front of him with his other fist in an excited gesture and licking his lips as he fantasizes. ]

Hehehe, I hope they have a big, juicy weenie... I want one in my mouth right now...! Should I get it nice and creamy or make myself cry??

[ Translation: he wants a hot dog and he's deciding if he wants mayonnaise or jalapenos. ]

Maybe both..?

[irritated]

[Hikaru is used to Taichi putting his foot in his mouth by now. Really, it was easy for Hikaru to also say something he didn't quite mean the way it came out.

But even if he knows what Taichi means, it doesn't mean he's not going to tease him.]

Yeah? So big you struggle to get your lips around it? Have to be careful not to choke~

[arf]

Ohh, that would be bad. I'd probably get it all over my face and front...

[ He sounds worried for a second, then oh-so-confidently shares: ]

Don't worry, I can fit a foot-long down my throat without choking! I'm an expert at swallowing!

[ 'u' There's a reason he gets called a dumb dog sometimes. ]

[irritated]

[Hikaru chokes on a laugh. Most times he can hold it back and keep this going for ages but how does one just not laugh after hearing something like that?]

You really don't listen to yourself at all, do you?

[But his tone is affectionate and even if he was teasing him, he doesn't want to be mean.

Seriously, though, how was he supposed to hold back?]

[arf]

[ It's not Sanguis, but Taichi's tail might as well be wagging even if his face looks obliviously excited. Hikaru's tone tells him whatever he's saying, it's a good thing. ]

What? I really love hot dogs. They're my super super favorite!

[irritated]

[There's another laugh and Hikaru covers his mouth with his free hand.]

Okay but maybe be careful who you're telling you like to put weiners in your mouth? Some guys might take it the wrong way, you know, and then you'd have to let them down! Especially after bragging that you're so good at swallowing. [He gasps.]

Or is that an invitation? Taichi! So forward! I'm a pure maiden here. You'll make me blush.

[arf]

[ Give him a few seconds. An invitation for...

..Ah. Weiner swallowing. He's seen that in some magazines and it was-

Is Hikaru thinking about--!? ]

[ Have you ever seen a boy's eyes get so wide? He flat out trips on a crack in the sidewalk while he's walking and almost runs into a pole because of it. ]

[irritated]

Taichi!

[Okay so him stuttering over it was hilarious but he didn't mean to almost kill him.]

Hey, be careful! I didn't actually think you were offering that. I'm a person with a good heart. I would never take advantage of your own pure and good heart. [That's debatable but he squeezes Taichi's hand with a grin.]

But you should really think about your wording. I thought I was gonna die when you said you can swallow it all.

[ Taichi holds onto the poll with both hands to steady himself, looking over at Hikaru and sobbing. It seems like he's okay at least. ]

How else am I supposed to say it!? I really can do it!

[irritated]

'I can eat a lot of hot dogs', 'I can stuff my mouth with one', 'I can down a whole hot dog'...want me to keep going?

[Is this helpful? Maybe not but Taichi did ask!!]

Points for colorful language though.

Hm.. but that's different than what I was talking about? [ Are you ready for this revelation Hikaru, are you really. ]

Like this one time I wanted to see if I could do it without chewing with the dog, right? So I challenged myself!

[ You know when you get stupidly determined to do something like deep throat a hot dog ]

Though I couldn't get it all the way down to my stomach, but I got it like into my mouth before I had to cough it back up and eat it normally after some practice!

[ Taichi Nanao Fact #134: He will obsessively practice things until he gets them when no one asked him to and usually, no one is impressed after the fact anyway. ]

[irritated]

So you just decided one day that you wanted to see if you could swallow a whole hot dog?

[Taichi. What. Hikaru stares, kind of in disbelief before he shakes his head.]

I've never met anybody like you before. You really got reckless and impulsive down to an art form.

[arf]

Well, I thought people in eating contests are pretty popular so I wanted to try but I couldn't eat that much at once so I thought, aha! I'll try this!

[ In the end, Taichi will do just about anything to try to be popular. ]

Hmm, if I do, you'll have to wait until after you feed me to see what happens.

[ Now he's thinking about where he can whisk Hikaru off to after food.. ]

[irritated]

So you...[It makes sense in the most bizarre way and he laughs. It's stupid but it's endearingly stupid.] Do people even pay attention to eating contests? I don't know any famous winners of eating contests. [Or is this a commoner thing? Hikaru doesn't but well, dream big, Taichi.

He reaches to grab Taichi's hand again.] I didn't really know what you wanted to do after we were done eating but I was thinking more along the lines of a movie or that shopping you do when you don't buy anything? [Which is a new thing for Hikaru. So much so that he doesn't even know what you call that.]

[arf]

They did a while back! There were TV show spotlights and everything. [ A beat. ] Though by the time I figured it out, it was done, so I've never really had anyone impressed by it. That's how it goes though. You have to be fast to keep up with the times.

[ Taichi takes it right away. Somehow there's more of a spring in his step after he's got Hikaru's hand than before, which is saying a lot because he's really, really happy right now.

Those sound fun, but Taichi just remembered something he read in a magazine the other day. (A.. date ideas article for Lunatia but whatever, who's counting.) ]

Have you ever been on a roller coaster?

[irritated]

Yeah, trends move fast. You have to know the game. [The implication is that Hikaru does but he knows an entirely different game. What's popular for him is vastly different because he cannot imagine any of the crowds he socializes with ever being into eating contests.

Although it would be hilarious if they did and he wishes they would. It would make all those boring parties so much more interesting.]

You wanna go on some? I've been on a lot. The ones in America are the most famous but my favorite is in Spain. It's the tallest in Europe. [Subtle mentions that he's traveled the world although it doesn't sound impressive to him.]

[arf]

I know! It's really interesting. I've gotten a lot better at it than when I was young.

[ Taichi?? You are still young you doof. But he just means he's gotten way better at finding trends and determining what's popular than he once was. ]

Maybe. Hehe, I kind of want to sweep you off to do something you haven't done before though.

[irritated]

To sweep me off to do something I haven't done? That's what you want to do? It's your birthday. [So shouldn't they be focusing on something that Taichi hasn't done? But there's something very nice about Taichi saying that and Hikaru doesn't exactly understand why but he isn't going to question it too much. Like all feelings he has.]

I'm trying to be all thoughtful and everything.

Exactly! Then I get to say I was there for your first time! That's an experience no one else can have, right?

[ A truly unique gift... ]

Have you done karaoke? Skateboarded?

[irritated]

[It still doesn't make sense to Hikaru but he's also not going to argue it. If that's what Taichi wants then that's what he wants and it's nice. That Taichi wants to share moments with him. It feels good to know somebody wants to do that.]

Nope. Neither. Pretty sure Tono's wanted to go to karaoke at some point. I can snowboard and ski, though.
